Season’s Greetings to you from Billy Stanier, Chair of Whaddon Parish Council.
Whaddon is a very special village with so many special features, and your Parish Council will do everything possible to keep it that way in 2026.
We are faced with having to contend with planned development right up to our borders while our surrounding farm land has to contend with plans for solar panels instead of crops.
However, the good news is that WPC has a full complement of talented and hard working Councillors all working to support the best interests of our village. And we are especially lucky to have a wonderful school, a church with a thriving congregation and a vibrant village hall in our community.
It was heartwarming to see the support for the Christmas Gathering and Light Switch On recently, and WPC’s thanks go out to the Village Hall Committee for organising this wonderful event. And I know we will all look forward to seeing the daffodils, planted by enthusiastic residents last weekend, flowering in the coming spring.
WPC would like to encourage residents to step up and support the community in 2026 – there is much to do! Community speed watch, Neighbourhood Plan, Neighbourhood Watch, and much more. To get involved, drop a line to WPC for more information.
But for now at least we can take well-earned rest from our endeavours on the smart new benches provided this year by Elmer’s Charity!
As Chair of Whaddon Parish Council I take this opportunity to wish everyone warmest Christmas Greetings and a Prosperous and Peaceful 2026.
Sir Beville Stanier BT
